Vote by Mail

If you are are now thinking "Hey PJ, I would love to vote but I will not be in Ramsey to cast a ballot..." -- no worries! The state of New Jersey allows anyone for any reason to vote by mail, although there are some critical steps you must take ahead of time in order to ensure you have the opportunity to be a part of the election.

Applying to Vote by Mail

Print out the first page of this form. It is imperative that it be filled legibly, as the form will be rejected if it cannot be read, and you will not be able to vote.

In section 1, either select "ALL FUTURE ELECTIONS" if you wish to continue voting by mail until you notify the county otherwise, or select "General (November)" if you just want to vote in the coming Board of Education election. Do not select "School".

Fill out sections 2, 3 and 5 with the exact information with which you are registered to vote.

Fill out section 4 with an address where mail will reach you.

Complete sections 6 through 9.

Mail the application to the Bergen County Clerk at One Bergen County Plaza, Room 130, Hackensack, NJ 07601. Make sure your envelope has a return address and stamp.

Watch out in the mail for Bergen County to send you your ballot.

Casting your Ballot

When you receive your mailer it will contain 3 items. There will be a ballot, an inner envelope with an attached certificate, and a mailing envelope. Do not detach the inner envelope from the certificate.

Completely fill in the oval next to each of your selections in blue or black ink. You can pick up to three candidates for the school board race.

Fill in and sign the certificate, keeping it attached to the inner envelope.

Place the ballot into the certificate envelope. Then, place the certificate envelope into the mailing envelop. Mail it back to the County Clerk.

It must be postmarked on or before November 7th at 8pm and be received by Bergen County's Board of Elections on or before 6 days after Election Day.

Thank you for voting!
